A scientific interest group (GIS) constituted in 2010, transformed into a research federation on January 1st, 2017

Under the supervision of the CNRS and the universities of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, Paris Diderot, Grenoble Alpes and Rouen, the INED and the IRD, and in partnership with the CGET and the IAU île-de-France, the Collège international des sciences territoriales (CIST) brings together 25 research laboratories.

Contributing to the formalisation of a transdisciplinary research field

Its scientific ambition is to contribute to the formalisation of a transdisciplinary research field, the "territorial sciences", mobilising the human and social sciences (geography, demography, economics, law, political science, sociology, history, archaeology, etc.), as well as the earth sciences (climatology, geology, biology, etc.), the health sciences and the engineering sciences (modelling, geomatics, etc.).

7 research areas

CIST's scientific activities are structured around 7 structuring themes and projects transverse to these axes, in connection with the CIST research teams.
- A&T (Actions & territorialisations)
- INFTER (Local territorial information)
- MEDIA (Media and territories)
- MIT (Mobilities, identities and territories)
- PAST (Temps longs des territoires)
- REMOC (Regionalisation, globalisations, circulations)
- SANTE (Territories and health).

You may subscribe to the mailing list of each CIST theme (on their presentation page) to participate actively or just to be kept informed of their activities.
